My Thoughts On Dell XPS 17 After 1 Month Of Use

    Initial Thoughts

I have to confess that I’m not one to splurge on expensive computers, nor am I a prolific review writer. However, after a month of owning the Dell XPS 17, a laptop which costs upwards of $2K, I feel compelled to share my surprising and rather disappointing experiences.

    Battery Life & Touch Screen

Firstly, the battery life is simply underwhelming. Despite being marketed as having long lasting power, it’s honestly been anything but that in my experience. To add insult to injury, the touch screen seems to have a mind of its own, shifting and moving without any prompt from me.

    Camera Quality

Another huge letdown has been the camera quality; it’s extremely poor and comparable to those found on much cheaper models – definitely not what I expected from such an expensive investment.

    Technical Issues & Customer Service

Sadly, my disappointments didn’t end there. Early on in my usage of the XPS 17, we experienced technical issues – particularly with RAM failure messages popping up unexpectedly. The issue persisted even after charging fully and thus had no choice but to return it. On another occasion with this model (yes we gave it another shot), it came with a defective motherboard which wouldn’t even allow the device to turn on. Trying to sort out these issues through Dell’s warranty support was quite time-consuming. Although the customer service was great- helpful and responsive – better quality control at initial stages should be expected for such an expensive machine.

    Dell’s Legacy vs Present Performance

Being a long-time Dell user who has owned several models from this brand over the years, these persistent problems with their XPS 17 left me utterly disappointed. The limited space for mouse usage coupled with short-lived volume levels further added fuel to fire here. Moreover, receiving an entirely different Dell model than advertised by sellers certainly raised doubts about buying tech from third-party vendors.

The Upside: Build Quality & Capabilities

Nevertheless,I must admit that there were aspects of this laptop I did find satisfactory if not impressive. The build quality felt sturdy and robust while adequately managing work-related tasks. While heavier tasks did occasionally seem challenging,it wasn’t frequent enough for concern.Graphically intensive games ran pretty well too!I also appreciated its crisp monitor display alongside reasonable sound clarity from its side speakers.

The Downside: Hardware Specs & Ports

The loose ends tied around its hardware specifications felt like more corners were cut than necessary. The RAM size seemed quite skimpy and so did hard disk space. It also lacked some key features like traditional USB ports or HDMI ports which meant investing in new hubs, cables or perhaps entire peripherals! This was especially inconvenient given that many of my other devices still use these “old school” ports. In conclusion,I don’t believe the hefty price tag is justified by what you get.Having experienced numerous issues myself,I’d recommend saving your dollars unless significant improvements in future iterations surface. In its current state, the Dell XPS 17 just doesn’t make the cut!.

My Thoughts On Alienware x15 R2 After 1 Month Of Use

    Performance and Heat

I’ve been using the **Alienware x15 R2** for about a month now, and I can confidently say this machine is pretty robust. I was initially concerned about some reviews mentioning that it runs hot, but honestly, my experience has been different. I’ve had 12+ hour gaming sessions with heavy titles like Elden Ring, Deathloop, God of War/Uncharted just to name a few and faced no issues at all. The only time I recall the fans spinning up is during the installation of large games. Sure, there’s noticeable heat coming from the vents while gaming – but hey, it’s a powerful machine running demanding programs; some warmth is to be expected! Importantly though, the keyboard always remains cool enough for comfortable use.

    Display Quality

The **screen quality** on this device is impressive in its own right. Even though I’m generally hooked up to my TV instead of using the built-in display, it still provides me with a visually stunning experience whenever I use it.

    The Speaker Experience

Now here’s an area where this laptop didn’t quite meet my expectations – the speakers. Considering how much money you put into getting one of these machines, you’d expect top-quality audio right? Unfortunately not in this case. The built-in Dolby speakers make noticeable noise and overall aren’t as great as they should be given the price tag.

    Gaming Experience

As an avid gamer who spends hours every day on various games – high frame rates are crucial for me. Thankfully that’s an area where **Alienware x15 R2** stands out! It always delivers high frame rates on high settings making those intense gaming sessions smooth sailing!

    Customer Service

One other thing worth mentioning in my review is Dell’s commendable customer service – basically white-glove service practically unheard elsewhere! When I ran into issues with cooling parts under warranty, they sent out a technician straight to my home to fix things up!

    Overall Thoughts

All said and done; despite its drawbacks (glares at bad speakers), after a month of use – overall**, Alienware x15 R2** delivers what any hardcore gamer would want: power-packed performance backed by impressive design aesthetics topped off by top-notch customer service from Dell. If you’re looking for superior gaming performance without too much concern for budget- then yes,** Alienware x15 R2** should definitely be considered! And oh yes: invest in some quality headphones or speaker system if you want good sound along your game.

One great asset some laptops possess is portability. If you move around much or simply prefer a lighter device you can carry comfortably everywhere you go, then consider this factor seriously during your laptop comparison process.

    7. Estimate Battery Life

Lastly but equally significant is battery life; how long will this machine stay powered on a single charge? This is particularly critical if you’re often on-the-go without easy access to a power source for charging or if plans include extended gaming sessions away from power outlets.
